Vegas

Shad and I took a break and went to Las Vegas. For me it was spring break and he took a timeout from work. We had a WONDERFUL time. We did a lot of walking, he did a little gambling, we did a lot of great eating, went on a couple of tours, and went to a few shows.

I have been to many Broadway shows, but I have never seen Lion King. This was on my list! Shad saved a bunch of pennies and bought us FABULOUS seats!!! Seven rows up, even with the stage...IN THE DEAD CENTER... yeah, everyone in the theatre was totally jealous. And honestly they should have been. It was amazing...of course I cried the whole opening number...it was magical, beautiful, and overwhelming. Later that week, we saw Carrot Top. I'd seen him before, but it was a long time ago. He is so stinkin' funny...extremely vulgar, but totally hilarious. I cried there too...but because I was laughing so hard.

We ate and ate.....the food was great! I wouldn't even know where to began to make a list of favorites! It was all so good, and I miss it. HA! I promise we didn't gain a pound because we walked miles and miles daily....MILES! I'm really not kidding. We did time our walk to the Carrot Top show...we did not stop or collect $200 and it took roughly one hour and 15 minutes...ONE WAY. Bless our feet.

On Tuesday, we gave our feet a concrete break and rented a car. We went to the Shelby Mustang Factory. I was told that it's a big deal; news to me. We also traveled to the mighty Hoover Dam. As you can guess, the day was deemed "boy day" strictly because my mechanical engineer loves talking the marvels of design....blah, blah, blah

The picture below was taken at the Hoover Dam....the bridge is being built to help transfer traffic off the dam... fyi the dam was built in the early 1930s and took around 5 years AND they had the divert the Colorado river into four tunnels..... That beautiful MODERN bridge has taken more than five years....and isn't complete. I guess if they would have built it in the 1930s it would have been finished by now :).

We had the best time together! I'd post more pictures, BUT I wasn't feeling too well and my engineer took thousands to pictures of generators and diagrams at the Hoover and pictures of fast cars... nothing to put in an album. But, OH well!

A Good Surprise!

If you know me well, then you know that I'm a list maker. I make a list and check it off. I'm a planner. It drives some crazy at times, but I can't help it...it's natural. After all, I'm a teacher; I should be a good planner, right? Well, as most planners or list creators I have everything worked out in my head, and I know that is scary! And I'm pretty good at adjusting my plan if I hit a speed bump (I don't know if Shad would agree with that though). I've checked many things off my list this past year, and I'm extremely proud of that! Even with all of my great planning :), we are going on a detour....and I'm getting really excited about this unplanned adventure! I'm going to copy an email that I sent my sister-in-law, Kimberly, who is in India. The email was written several weeks ago. I think it will tell the story-

So we haven't heard from you...no email. no skype. no nothing. well kinda got some news....your big brother is going to be a daddy. yep, i'm pregnant. are you shock? good, us too! i'm glad we are in the same boat! ha. i think i'm still in total shock. i'm 7 weeks; we weren't planning on telling just in case, but i have a bachelorette party in FL this coming weekend and we knew my cover would be blown.

you know me...sometimes the last to know... no exception here. it's funny bc i've been sick for about 3 wks. WHICH I DON'T get sick. shad was out of town, and every time he'd call i was sick...sleepy and going to bed well before the chickens and old people. at school one day i got really dizzy in the hall and had to sit down. another teacher told me i was pregnant...i was like what!?

so i got a test...didn't tell shad and took it at 3:30 am....it was really fast to say pregnant- i was expecting the 3 minutes that the directions said...but it was more like 5 sec. SO, i sat in the bathroom for a while...in total shock. then decided to not wake shad, but to write "I'm Pregnant! Happy early V-day!" in lipstick on his mirror. i think he was surprised.

We told the parents this weekend. My birthday was Wednesday...so shad planned a surprised party at your parents' house and invited your family and mine. I should win an award for best female actress in a drama. We all ate dinner, cake, and then opened presents. I opened Shad's gift last which was the sonogram pictures... needless to say everyones' mouths dropped. Ava was helping open gifts and when i opened shad's and pulled out the pictures...she yelled out "sis-ter" and said no ava not sister it's a cousin. everyone scream. therefore; ava gets the award for best supporting actress.

shad is overly thrilled... they say that you "glow" when your pregnant...shad has my glow...his cheeks have to be sore from smiling. it was funny because this afternoon he was putting a big box in the truck... i was in the car and was looking at him through the window....and he was even smiling putting the box in..cute. shock is wearing off and i'm getting excited...totally scared. hope to hear from you soon. love you auntie k to the 4th.

So, there you have it! We are excited about our detour and new adventure! I go to the doctor on Tuesday...and you can track our lil bump's growth by checking out our baby counter at the bottom of the page. Please pray for us as our life changes.

Kacy

Kacy is my BBF. We were college roommates at ICC...and we have always felt like sisters. She is fun, loving, honest, and beautiful. We had the best of times at ICC and ever lost touch when she transferred to Delta State and I to Mississippi State. During the first week apart, we both went through rush. I remember sitting in my bedroom floor the night before bid day...she and I talked on what our number one choices were...it was no surprise that our sisterly bond would both brand us to the same letters of Delta Delta Delta. During those next few years, we would visit each other's university during big events. Never losing touch with the craziness of college life. After college, she found herself in the Memphis area. Of course, Shad eventually moved me to south Mississippi and she served as my Maid of Honor. And....last weekend, she got married to Patrick! I'm thrilled for her and Patrick and wish them the best. The wedding was beautiful and fun!
